Singer Udayabhanu honoured

Malayalam playback singer K.P. Udayabhanu, who has been awarded the prestigious Padma Shri for his outstanding contributions to music, was felicitated by Swaralaya at a function in his home town Palakkad on Saturday. Inaugurated by film director Lohithadas, the meeting was presided over by Swaralaya president N.N. Krishnadas, MP.

K.P. Udayabhanu was also recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award instituted by Thiruvananthapuram-based production house Symphony Television. Apart from K.P. Udayabhanu, music director M.K. Arjunan and noted technocrat K.P.P. Nambiar were also honoured with this award, which was presented on February 22. The award consists of a statuette, a citation and a purse of Rs. 25,000.
