Kutty Shranku with Mammootty in the lead role and directed by the renown filmmaker Shaji N Karun is to be premiered at the Montreal International Film Festival 2009, which is to be held from August 27 to September 7. The movie will have its first official screening at the "Great Film Section" of the festival.
Kutty Shranku produced by Anil Ambani's Reliance Big Pictures is set against the backdrop of the 50s. Superstar Mammootty comes across as a boat driver who runs a cargo service. In the course of his journey to and fro, he meets three women at three different islands in the backwaters of Kerala. Kamalinee Mukherjee, Meena Kumari and Padmapriya play these key roles. The movie delves into his relationship with these women.
