In the backdrop of speculations that Malayalam superstar Mammootty, known to be an activist of ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF), would be offered a seat in Muslim-dominated Malappuram district in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Mammootty has revealed on Sunday that he is neither interested in entering politics nor predicting the election results as he is a busy actor and not a politician.
"Astrology is not my business and since I am not into politics, I will refrain myself from saying something that I don"t know. Ask me about my profession and I will reply," Mammootty reportedly said to a news agency over phone from Kochi.
When asked about his political entry as he is the chairman of a TV channel promoted by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Mammootty said: "I am fully occupied and I do not have the time to think of anything else."
Meanwhile, according to a leading newspaper, a senior Left leader (on condition of anonymity) recently revealed that though formal talks are yet to begin, LDF leaders are considering Mammootty's name in the forthcoming elections. Mammootty also hinted at a possible jump into politics in his recent three interviews as well as his blog launched on New Year's Day. If this happens, Mammootty would contest the Lok Sabha elections from either Ernakulam, where he is based, or Ponnani or Mancheri seats.
