Prabhu Deva choreographs for Bodyguard

By Super Admin

A long 17 years after he masterminded fast dance steps for Jayaraj's Johnny Walker (1992), award-winning choreographer, dancer, actor and director Prabhu Deva has recently choreographed a dance for a Malayalam film. The dance sequences of this Malayalam film Bodyguard directed by veteran Siddhique with comedy-turned-hero Dileep and South India's costliest heroine Nayantara in the lead, were shot on location at Kottayam, Kerala.

Slated for a Vishu release (March 28, 2009), Bodyguard revolves around young Jayakrishnan (Dileep), who has a very strange habit; he adulates anyone with a trace of heroism. Whenever he develops an admiration towards a person, he prefers to move with that person as a sort of bodyguard. He starts admiring Ashokan (Thyagarajan), a former liquor tycoon and leading businessman.

Jayakrishnan wants to be Ashokan's bodyguard, but Ashokan does not need a bodyguard. Later, when Jayakrishnan approaches Ashokan with a recommendation from someone he cannot refuse, Ashokan appoints Jayakrishnan as bodyguard for his daughter, Ammu (Nayantara). Interesting things happen when Jayakrishnan accompanies Ammu to her college. What follows next forms the rest of the plot.

Scripted by the director himself, Bodyguard is the first Siddhique-directed film starring Dileep. Also in the cast are Mithra, Undapakru, Janardhanan, Zeenat, Appahaja, Nandu, Seema G. Nair, Harisree Asokan, Anil Murali, Cochin Haneefa, Balachandran Chullikad and others. The film has five songs tuned by Ousepachan. Lyrics are by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, while Ananthakkuttan deals with cinematography.
