Ranjith turns director with Sallapam remake

After winning appreaciation for his villainous performances in flicks like Rajamanikyam, Ranjith would now be wearing the director"s cap for upcoming flick Rayilu.

The flick is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Sallapam, which had earned Dileep and Manju Warrier stardom. The Tamil version will have its director Ranjith and Anglo-Indian actress Caroline as the lead protagonists.

The backdrop of rail tracks and trains will play much more important part in the narratives, in the Tamil version compared to what it did in the original one, which was a simple low budget movie.
