Vilakkupara, a tiny hamlet in Kerala, is now getting ready to accord a reception to sound engineer Resul Pookutty, who recently won the Best Editing award at the Oscars for Danny Boyle's much-acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire. The reception will be held at the Vilakkupara Panchayat grounds at 5.30 p.m. on Friday.
Vilakkupara grama panchayat president S. Saraswathy, also the chairperson of the reception committee, said that elaborate arrangements were being made to make the event grand and memorable. The reception committee has arranged a motorcade with more than 100 vehicles to take Pookutty from the VJT Hall in Thiruvananthapuram to Vilakkupara.
According to the plan prepared by the Kollam district administration, the District Collector will formally receive Pookutty when he enters Kollam district. The State government has already announced it would honour Pookutty at a public reception in Thiruvananthapuram.
Kerala Government will honour Oscar award winner Resul Pookuty with a civic reception arranged in VJT hall, Thiruvananthapuram on March 6 at 1.30 p.m. He will be led to the hall with procession from the Air Port. Later he will attend felicitation functions in various districts in the state till March 13.
The Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, will honour Pookutty, a former student of the college. After his glorious victory at the Oscars, Resul Pookutty arrived in Mumbai on February 26 with his wife.
