After the glorious victory at the Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire, Resul Pookutty, along with his wife and Irrfan Khan, arrived at the Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Thursday morning. Resul Pookutty will celebrate the first birthday of his daughter Salna on Friday in their home in Mumbai.

A large crowd of people waited to welcome the Oscar winner. The Sound Association had brought banners, placards and lifesize cutouts of Pookutty. There were slogans of 'Jai Ho' coming from all the corners of the airport; garlands and a car decorated with flowers awaited him.

The 'Jai Ho' song was played as soon as he stepped out. But once he was out of the airport, chaos reigned as everyone rushed towards Resul to catch a glimpse of the Indian hero with the Oscar in his hand.

Resul was escorted out under tight police security. The crowd swelled and the press conference that was supposed to be held at the airport premises had to be called off for security reasons. Resul, his wife Shadia and Irrfan Khan were rushed into a police van and driven away.

Resul Pookutty, who bagged the Best Editing award at the Oscars for Danny Boyle's much-acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire, is settled in Mumbai with his wife and two kids. His son Rayan is four. Hailing from Vilakkupara village near Anchal, Kollam, Resul Pookutty is the first Keralite to win an Oscar award.
