Celebration time at Resul's village

In Vilakkupara village, the land of rubber plantations and palmtrees, the native place of Resul Pookutty, the villagers enthusiastically watched the 81st Academy awards function on TV with much enthusiasm. Resul Pookuty won the Oscar award for best sound mixing for the film Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle.

It is the time of revelry for his family and the villagers. When the announcement was made they hugged each other, praised God, burst crackers, distributed sweets and the village of Vilakkupara became live. Within a short time the house was decorated and a shamiana was also set up.

Minister M.A. Baby arrived there with family. Opposition leader Oommen Chandy, Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran, K.Raju MLA, Panchayat President Saraswathi Amma, Ward Member Ajayan, and many others gathered there to congratulate the family.

Resul Pookutty called over the phone from Los Angeles and shared his happiness with them. Pookuty, who is known as Baiju among the villagers talked to the prominent persons gathered there. Later the members of the family served them lunch as well.

Resul lives in Mumbai with his wife and two young children. He got his first break in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed movie Black. He has also won the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA). He has worked in movies like Traffic Signal (2007), Gandhi My Father (2007), Saawariya (2007) and even in Ghajini (2008).
