Shobhana is 25 not out!

13 and petite she was too young to fit into the conventional mould of an actress romancing the hero, let alone essay the role of a dutiful wife or the benign mother. However the magic world of celluloid saw her metamorphosize into a bashful young woman who stole many hearts with her gracious smile. Time has gone by and today our dainty actress Shobhana celebrates 25 years in the tinsel world of fame and fortune. Shobhana had made her debut in 1984 through the Malayalam movie April 18 opposite Balachandra Menon.

The veteran actress now the recipient of the national award and the Padmashri has completed glorious 25 years in the film field. She bagged the national award twice for her outstanding performance in Manichitrathazhu and Mitr - My Friend. Padmashri commemorates her valuable contribution to both cinema and dance. Some of her noteworthy films to date are Manichithrathaazhu, Vellanakalude Nadu, Naadoodikkaattu, Thenmaavin Kombathu, Mazhayethum Munpe, Kalikkalam and so on.

Apart from Malayalam, Shobhana has also acted in a spate of other regional movies. The actress has shared the screen with many actors from Rahman to Mammootty, Mohanlal, Sureshgopi, Jayaram and many more. The Rahman-Shobhana pair has been always hailed as one of the most romantic pairs onscreen

Shobhana recently founded the Kalarpana in Chennai, a cultural centre for Bharatanatyam. However the actress has made a comeback through Sagar Alias Jackie – Reloaded, a sequel to Irupatham Noottandu with Mohanlal. We wish the graceful actress many more glorious years in the film fraternity.
