Theatre festival at Thrissur

The Theatre festival conducted by Nataka Sauhrutham started at Thrissur Sangeetha Nataka Academy Regional theatre campus on Friday, in connection with its 10th anniversary celebrations. Director M.S. Sathyu inaugurated the festival. May be the reason that it is not the way to make money, artistes from the drama field are withdrawing. Drama which exposes the feelings of society has been displaced by TV and Movies, Sathyu said.

Prof. P.N. Prakash presided over the function. An exhibition of theatre-related photographs and posters, curated by Sadanand Menon, inaugurated by the School of Drama Director G. Kumara Varma. The plays 'Kuruthippaadam' and Chumarukal' were staged.

M.S. Sathyu, critic Sadanand Menon, dramatist G. Kumara Varma and academic M.V. Narayanan will take part in seminars to be held on April 4. The festival will end on April 5.
