207 films from 83 countries to be screened at IFFK

The
15th
International
Film
Festival
of
Kerala
(IFFK)
is
starting
today
at
Thiruvananthapuram.
Two
hundred
seven
films
from
83
countries
will
be
screened
in
10
theatres
in
the
capital
city
for
eight
days.
Iranian
Mohsen
Abdolvahab"s
film
Please
Don"t
Disturb
is
the
inaugural
film.
The
festival
will
showcase
16
competition
sections
and
films
from
Asia,
Africa
and
Latin
America
are
dominating
all
the
competition
sections.
Malayalam
movies
like
Aatmakadha,
Janaki,
Elektra,
Makaramanju,
Chithrakkuzhal,
Veettilekkulla
Vazhi,
Yugapurushan
and
Chitra
Sutram
have
found
place
in
the
cinema
section.
Werner
Herzog
will
be
honoured
with
IFFK"s
first-ever
Lifetime
Achievement
Award.
Five
masterpiece
movies
of
Werner
Herzog,
Olivier
Assayas,
Maria
Novara,
Apichatpong
Weerasethakal
are
being
displayed
at
the
festival.
Legend
Waheeda
Rehman
is
the
guest
of
honour
at
the
function.
Chief
Minister
VS
Achuthanandan
will
honour
Werner
Herzog
and
Jnanpith
winner
ONV
Kurup
on
the
occasion.
The
festival
will
also
pay
homage
to
Malayalam
film
personalities
such
as
Venu
Nagavally,
Girish
Puthenchery,
M.G.
Radhakrishnan,
Cochin
Haneefa,
Sreenath,
Azeez,
Adoor
Pankajam
and
Mankada
Ravivarma.
