A
forum
meant
for
the
progress
of
Malayalam
cinema
named
Film
Makers'
Forum
for
Better
Films
was
formed
by
the
makers
of
art
movies
in
Kerala
at
Thiruvananthapuram.
It
was
inaugurated
by
noted
film
director
Shyam
Benegal
at
Vylopilli
Samskrithi
Bhavan
on
Sunday.
In
his
speech,
Benegal
asked
filmmakers
to
think
why
viewers
were
not
attracted
to
theatres.
“Subsidy
from
the
part
of
government
would
not
help
cinema.
Modern
technologies,
which
are
alien
to
Malayalam
cinema,
have
to
be
adopted
to
survive.
This
is
the
time
films
have
been
shot
even
with
mobile
camera.
Here
we
could
not
see
a
multiplex
theatre
in
Kerala.
The
problems
faced
by
the
film
makers
should
be
discussed
in
a
political
forum," he
said.
K.P.
Kumaran,
Babu
Thiruvalla,
Sreekumaran
Thampi,
