Actress Mamta Mohandas, who wowed the audience with her role as Ayesha in Prithviraj's Anwar, has revealed that she is a cancer survivor. She is suffering from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She says that she has cut her hair to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

Mamta Mohandas' new hairstyle had created lot of curiosity among her fans, but she had kept mum on this aspect. For the first time, she broke her silence in an interview with the Times of India. "It makes me feel reborn. I'm sporting this new look as I'm a cancer survivor," the TOI quotes Mamta as saying.

Malayalam actress-cum-singer did not feel scared when she came to know about her cancer. She bravely took diagnosis. "The tough part is over; now I have to fight it. For chemotherapy and radiation, I had to cut my hair," the TOI reports her as saying.

However, Mamta, who celebrated her birthday on last Sunday (Children's Day) by cutting cake on a jumbo aircraft with 360 underprivileged kids, has become a hot property after the success of Anwar. She is now doing a music video for Prithviraj's Thriller. Along with Hariharan she is singing a classical song for the film Mohabbath. Besides this, she has four films in Malayalam.
