Mohanlal-Dileep
starrer
malayalam
movie
Christian
Brothers
had
failed
to
impress
the
film
critics
last
week.
Now,
it
is
the
turn
of
Superstar
Mammootty's
August
15
this
week.
Yes!
The
film,
which
is
a
sequel
of
August
1,
has
received
unfavorable
review
from
the
critics.
August
15
deals
with
an
investigation
of
assassination
of
Chief
Minister
of
Kerala.
The
movie
throws
light
on
present
political
situation
and
personalities,
but
it
fails
to
touch
the
hearts
of
critics.
Paresh
C
Palicha
writes
on
Rediff:
"On
the
whole,
August
15
fails
to
provide
the
thrills
and
becomes
a
silly
hero-worshipping
political
film.
Pick
up
a
DVD
copy
of
August
1
instead."
The
movie
has
been
bashed
for
its
old
narrative
style.
Sify
review
writes:
"With
an
old
narrative
style,
the
film
appears
to
be
a
never
ending
affair
for
the
viewers,
though
the
length
is
about
two
and
a
half
hours.
S
N
Swami"s
script
is
too
old
fashioned
and
is
based
on
a
rather
flimsy
plot.
The
visuals
by
Pradeep
Nair
are
okay."
Neil
Xavier
writes
on
Yentha:
"My
final
word
for
the
movie
-
Not
lengthy
but
without
the
mandatory
breaks
for
songs,
one
is
tempted
to
believe
otherwise.
No
suspense.
Little
thrill.
Ordinary
action
sequences.
Looked
more
like
a
promo
for
the
present
ruling
party.
August
1
made
two
decades
back
stands
way
ahead
of
its
sequel
-
quite
expected
of
all
sequels
one
may
add
but
after
20
years
one."
Despite
getting
unfavourable
reviews,
Christian
Brothers
has
been
doing
well
at
the
Box
Office
for
one
week.
The
reason
behind
this
is
the
cast
of
biggies
like
Mohanlal,
Dileep,
Suresh
Gopi
and
Sharath
Kumar.
August
15
features
Mammootty
as
Crime
Branch
officer
Perumal.
As
usual,
his
performance
has
been
well
appreciated
by
critics.
Now,
it
should
be
seen
whether
Mammooka's
would
do
the
same
as
Mohanlal
with
Christian
Brothers.
