Mammootty, Mamta bag South Filmfare Awards

Malayalam superstar Mammootty has bagged the Best Actor at the South Filmfare Awards for his acting in the movie Pranchiyettan And The Saint, while Mamta Mohandas walked away with the Best Actress Award for the film Katha Thudaraunnu. Meanwhile, Pranchiyettan And The Saint was adjudged as the Best Malayalam Film.

Pranchiyettan And The Saint was nominated in four categories and it won three top honours like Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor. Another movie Anwar had bagged nominations in five categories and it won top three music awards like Best Music Director, Best Singer and Best Lyricist.

The 58th South Filmfare Awards function was held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre on Saturday, 2nd July. Bollywood actress Rekha, Shreya Ghoshal, Mammootty, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Girish Kasaravalli, Ravi Teja, Vikram, Mamta Mohandas, Rama Naidu and many stars from Malayalam film industry made it to the event.

Best Actor: Mammootty - Pranchiyettan and the Saint,
Best Actress: Mamtha Mohandas - Katha Thudaraunnu.
Best Singer (male): Hariharan - Aaro Padunnu - Katha Thudarunnu
Best Singer (female): Shreya Ghoshal - Kizhakku Pookkkum – Anwar
Best Supporting Actor: Biju Menon - Marykkundoru Kunjaadu
Best Supporting Actress: Urvashi - Mummy & Me
Best Music Director: Gopi Sundar - Anwar
Best Lyricist: Rafeeque Ahmed - Kizhakku Pookkum - Anwar
