Mammootty, Nayantara bag 13th Asianet Film Awards

The 13th Ujala-Asianet Film Awards has been announced on the 1st day of the New Year and big names of the industry ruled this year in almost all categories. Superstar Mammootty bagged the 'Best Actor" award for his performances in the films like Kutty Srank, Pranchiyettan and the Saint and Best Actor.

The 'Best Actress" award went to renowned South Indian actress Nayantara for her performance in the Malayalam movie Bodyguard. The awards will be distributed at Kochi on January 9. There are total 28 categories in this prestigious award. Veteran star Mohanlal, who has been seen in about 300 films, won the 'Asianet Golden Star Award" for his huge contribution to cinema.

This is for the first time 'Asianet" has honored the Tamil actors. Actor Ilayathalapathi Vijay has been honored with the popular hero award for his Tamil films. In Kollywood, Dileep and Mamta Mohandas won the best actor and actress award respectively. Ace director Lal has bagged the 'best director award" for In Ghost House Inn. Actor Jayasurya has been chosen as the Youth Icon of the Year.

The best supporting actors" awards have gone to Nedumudi Venu and Lakshmipriya. Suraj Venjaramood has been selected for the 'best comedy actor" and 'best character actor" honor has gone to Innocent. Asif Ali has proved himself as the 'best villain".

In the music category, Hariharan and Sreya Ghoshal have been declared the best singers and M G Sreekumar has been honored with the Best music direction award for the Malayalam film Oru Naal Varum.
