Manoj K Jayan awarded for Pazhassi Raja

South Indian actor Manoj K Jayan has won one of the most prestigious awards given to achievers in the South Indian film industry. According to reports in the media, Manoj K Jayan has been declared the winner of this year"s Bharat Murali Award, which is named after very popular Mollywood star Murali. The Bharat Murali Award was first started by Kanjaveli AKG Kalakendram and Bharat Murali Smaraka Samithi. The Award has always tried to praise the best performer in South Indian cinema over the years.

In a statement to the media, the organizers of the Bharat Murali Award have announced that it is the actor"s performance in the 2009 Malayalam movie Pazhassi Raja, which has won Manoj K Jayan, the Bharat Murali Award of 2011. Manoj has been a popular face of several Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films in a career spanning more than two decades. While commercial success has never been very difficult for him to achieve, critical acclamation has also come in his way.

Samithi President KK Rajendran and KV Jyothilal, the jury Chairman Dr. N Jayadevan and the Samithi secretaries Baiju Joseph and K Sajiv Kumar said that they loved the character of Thalakkal Chanthu that Manoj K Jayan portrayed in the film Pazhassi Raja. Therefore, they unanimously chose the actor as this year"s winner of the Bharat Murali Award. The ceremony will be held on 8th January.
