Prithviraj will begin shooting for the film Aiyya in Mumbai from October first week.
The plot is set against a Marathi family background in Mumbai. Rani Mukherjee adorns the role of a typical Maharashtrian girl dressed in Salwars and will be speaking in Marathi mixed with Hindi.
Prithviraj will play the role of a Tamil boy who speaks Hindi with a strong southern accent.
In an interview with a leading newspaper, the National Award winning Marathi director Sachin Kundalkar said: “Aiyya is my first Hindi film. It is going to be a romantic quirky love story between a Maharashtrian girl and a south Indian guy."
Speaking about his decision to do the Bollywood film, Prithviraj said, “I rejected plenty of offers from Hindi. However, I found Anurag's script so interesting that I decided that Aiyya would be my first Hindi film. I'll also be dubbing for the movie in Hindi."
