Veteran
director
KS
Sethumadhavan's
movie
Chattakkari,
which
was
released
in
1974,
has
become
a
big
hit
at
the
Box
Office.
It
has
been
remade
in
other
languages
and
seen
success
in
them
also.
Now,
Sethumadhavan's
son
Santhosh
has
planned
to
remake
the
super-hit
film
in
Malayalam.
The
remake
of
Chattakkari
is
being
produced
by
G
Suresh
Kumar
under
the
banner
of
Revathi
Kalamandhir.
Suresh
Kumar's
recent
productions
like
Neelathaamara
and
Rathinirvedam
are
the
remakes
of
two
super
hit
films.
The
success
of
these
movies
has
boosted
his
confidence
to
remake
Chattakkari.
Chattakkari
was
based
on
Pamman's
famous
novel
of
the
same
name
and
Thoppil
Bhasi
had
written
the
script
for
it.
The
movie
is
a
love
story
of
an
Anglo-Indian
girl
(Lakshmi)
and
a
Hindu
boy
(Mohan),
who
consummate
the
relationship.
She
has
a
child
out-of-wedlock
in
secret.
In
addition
to
its
Box
Office
success,
the
movie
had
also
won
a
few
Filmfare
and
Kerala
State
Film
awards.
However,
Chattakkari
was
remade
as
Julie
in
Hindi
as
Miss
Julie
Prema
Katha
in
Telugu
in
1975.
Actress
Lakshmi
was
the
heroine
in
both
versions.
Suresh
Kumar
said,
“This
film
tells
a
love
story
and
has
a
message
to
convey."
Now,
this
Malayalam
remake
will
be
shot
in
Goa.
Hit
song
of
the
film
Julie,
'Julie
O
my
Darling...'
will
be
included
in
this
version
and
M
Jayachandran
will
score
music
for
the
other
songs
for
the
new
version.
