passed
away
on
Tuesday
at
10
pm
at
his
residence
in
T
Nagar
in
Chennai.
He
was
73.
K
Raja
Gopal
has
been
undergoing
treatment
for
intestinal
disease
since
the
past
few
days
and
is
survived
by
his
wife
Santha
and
children,
the
late
KR
Gagadharan
and
Radhamani.
K
Raja
Gopal
was
the
son
of
Kesavan
Pillai
of
Mannarkad,
Mailakode
near
Palakkad.
His
funeral
took
place
on
Wednesday
evening
at
Kannamampetta
in
Chennai.
The
producer
boasts
of
having
produced
almost
seventy
movies
in
Tamil,
Malayalam,
Telugu
and
Kannada.
Some
of
the
movies
made
under
the
banner
of
KRG
Intenational
Film
Corporation
include
Neelagiri,
Mrigaya,
Sangham,
Lal
Salam,
Vadakku
Nokki
Yanthram,
Varavelppu
and
Oliyambukal.
The
last
movie
produced
by
KRG
was
Mayookham
of
Hariharan
in
2005.
Mamta
Mohandas
made
her
debut
with
this
film.
Raja
Gopal
began
his
career
by
producing
Tamil
movies
in
the
seventies.
He
even
produced
movies
of
Sivaji
Ganesan,
Rajani
Kanth,
Kamal
Hassan
and
Ilayathalapathy
Vijay.
The
acclaimed
producer
also
received
Kalai
Mamani
Puraskar
from
Tamil
Nadu
Government.
