Thilakan's condition remains critical

Thiruvananthapuram: The condition of veteran Malayalam film actor Thilakan is extremely serious. The 76 year-old actor was admitted to a private hospital on August 23 following a severe heart attack. Thilakan continues to be on ventilator support.

State Health Minister VS Sivakumar, who visited the actor, said doctors had told him that there was a 'slight progress' in Thilakan's condition. He said the government would bear the expenses for the actor's treatment.

Thilakan would be provided the best treatment available, he added. Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan, directors Sibi Malayil and Kamal, actors Suresh Gopi, Maniyanpilla Raju and other film personalities visited the actor at the hospital.

However, according to many local newspapers, Thilakan's health has not improved and he remains to be unconscious.
