Yesudas celebrates 72nd birthday in Mookambika temple

As an uninterrupted ritual of prayer and singing every year, Yesudas reached Kollur Sree Mookambika temple with his family to celebrate his 72nd birthday on Tuesday. He has been coming here for the past twelve birthdays, singing before the deity - Saraswathi Devi.

Yesudas along with his son Vijay started 'raga pooja' by singing 'Ganapathi sthuthi' after receiving blessings from veteran musician V Dakshinamoorthi. Hundreds of children got the opportunity to write their first letter (Hari Sree) under the guidance of veteran singer Yesudas.

Many artists like CN Karunakaran, Kaladharan, KK Rajappan too reached there to wish Yesudas. Musicians under Kanhangad Ramachandran began singing Bhajans as early as 5 am. Music director Vidya Sagar, KPN Pillai, N Hari, Coimbatore Suresh, Parassala Ravi were also spotted among them.
