Asif Ali in a spat with police over chasing minister’s car

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Asif Ali, who has taken a break from films to prepare for his wedding, has made it to the headlines for all wrong reason. The police escorts for P Jayalakshmi, Minister of Welfare for Backward Communities, pulled his luxury sports car speeding up towards the Minister's vehicle with its headlights on during day hours. But the actor has successfully managed to stay out of controversy.

According to reports, Asif Ali was returning from Kozhikode to Ernakulam after inviting people for his wedding on Monday afternoon, when the events unfolded. While travelling along NH 17, Jayalakshmi's police escorts stopped and asked him to turn off the headlights. The cops alerted the police control room to take the driver into custody, when he continued without turning the headlights off.

When the highway police caught him, Asif Ali tried to convince them that the fog lamp glows all the time. But the ignorant police showered him with choice of words. Later, he appeared before the circle inspector in the Thirurangadi Police Station and cleared that matter of the fog lamp. The minister continued her journey without lodging a complaint against the actor.

Asif Ali has taken a break from his filmy activities after wrapping up his upcoming movie Honeybee with Lal. Now, he is all set to tie the knot with his fiance Zama Mazar, who is a native of Kannur and a degree student at the Kozhikode Collage. His wedding will take place on May 26, 2013. Now, he is busy with the preparation for his grand wedding.
