Malayalam Films Served As Refuge To Me, Says Gouthami

Gouthami is one among the most appreciated actresses in Mollywood. The actress has done quite a lot of movies in Mollywood. Though she is not in the industry now, people still remember her for the roles she has portrayed. She is one of the jury members for the 18th International Film Festival of Kerala, which is currently being held at Thiruvananthapuram. The yesteryear actress says that she is very happy for the same.

"I was overwhelmed by the love and affection that I received here even after so many years. Malayalam films that I did almost served as a refuge to me. When I was doing too much of the regular run-of-the-mill works, it gave me a space to breath, it helped me find another part of myself. The general aesthetic of telling a story here is so different", says the actress.

Gouthami has been as an actress, a TV host and also as a costume designer. When asked what she prefers the most among the three, the actress said, "I prefer cinema on any given day. In front of the camera, behind the camera, even if it is to fetch stuff I wouldn't mind. I just want to be associated with cinema. That is when I seem to come alive.''

The actress, who battled with the disease cancer, said that cinema was the one thing that helped her through her rough times. She said that she used lie on her favourite couch and watch films post chemotherapy.

When asked about Kamal Hassan, she said, "Kamal sir is as integral to me as any part of my body. He is my backbone.'' Adding on, Gouthami also said that as an actress the best of Gouthami is yet to come.
