They
have
titled
them
as
a
pick
of
the
most
memorable
acting
performances
in
100
years
of
Indian
Cinema.
It
is
indeed

honour
for
the
Malayalam
industry
as
such
to
have
their
two
stars
been
listed
among
the
top
25
greatest
actors
in
India.
Mammootty
has
been
listed
for
his
movie
Mathilukal,
which
has
got
released
in
1989
and
Mohnalal
has
been
listed
for
his
movie
Bharatham,
released
in
1991.
According
to
the
Forbes'
Magazine,
there
were
11
other
films
with
Mammootty
in
the
lead
in
1989.
There
were
36
films
for
the
year.
In
Mathilukal,
Mammootty
essayed
the
role
of
a
prisoner,
who
is
in
love
with
a
fellow
woman
prisoner,
who
is
on
the
other
side
of
a
wall.
Directed
by
Adoor
Gopalakrishnan,
the
film
was
based
on
a
1965
autobiographical
novel
by
Vaikom
Muhammad
Basheer.
Mohanlal
played
a
talented
singer
in
the
movie
Bharatham,
who
adored
his
increasingly
alcoholic
elder
brother.
His
brother
was
his
guru
too.
As
Mohanlal
becomes
more
famous,
the
elder
brother
grows
jealous
of
him
and
later
becomes

his

However,
he
dies
on
a
pilgrimage,
leaving
Mohanlal
to
take
care
of
the
family,
especially

sister
who
was

married.

for

for
their
