Keerthi's mother Maneka has been featured as Mohanlal's leading lady in numerous films, including super hits like Boeing Boeing and Poochekkoru Mookuthi.
This is not the first time Mohanlal is working with the daughter of his ex-leading lady. In his film Photographer (2006), he shared the screen with Saranya Bhagyaraj, daughter of Poornima Jayaram, who was opposite him in his first release Manjil Virinja Pookal (1980).
But for Mohanlal such things are of little significance. He says it's part of his profession.
"See, I am currently doing a Tamil film where I worked with Poornima Jayaram after a long time. The story demands that a lady has to be there and in this film it's Keerthi," said the superstar to IANS at the shooting location of Geetanjali.
When asked about Keerthi, Mohanlal, known to be a shy, smiled and said: "Yes, she is good."
He was waiting to get a call from Priyadarshan for his next shot. However, Priyadarshan who is directing Geetanjali, calls it a feat.
"Oh man, this is something that none of us will ever get to do. This is something phenomenal that he is doing for the second time," Priyadarshan told IANS.
In the film, Mohanlal plays psychiatrist Sunny Joseph and he is called to treat Keerthi after she starts hallucinating, ahead of her marriage.
"The film is a lot different from earlier films of Priyadarshan. As the shooting is progressing, all of us are excited. After all, for an actor, every role is a challenge and I like challenges, hence it's all the more exciting," said Mohanlal, who will completes 35 years Sep 3 as an actor in in the industry.
