60th National Film Awards: Mollywood bags 11 out of 31
New Delhi: Kamal's Celluloid was declared as the best Malayalam film at the 60th National Film Awards. In what could be described as an 'achievement' for Malayalam cinema, 11 out of 31 awards went to the Malayalam film industry.
Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor for his outstanding performance as athlete-turned-dacoit in Paan Singh Tomar. The film also won Best Hindi Feature Film. The National Film Awards jury was led this year by filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. Listed below are the list of winners of the National Film Awards in the popular Malayalam film category.
Special jury awards: Thilakan, Lal and Kalpana
Best film on social issues: Ranjith's Spirit
Best dialogue writer: Anjali Menon for Ustad Hotel
Best Malayalam film: Kamal's Celluloid
Best Audiography: Rajakrishnan for Annayum Rasoolum
