Most of the politicians want their sons to follow their footsteps and continue their profession. They create opportunities for their sons to get noticed in public. But there are a few politicians' sons, who have followed their hearts rather than treading their dads' path. They have entered Malayalam film industry and without any political support, they are trying to make it big in various departments of filmmaking.

The biggest difficulty of many politicians' sons is that they are not allowed to choose a field other than politics or business. But some guys have set apart their parents obligations for their passion for films. A youngsters have entering Mollywood as actors, scriptwriters and directors. They think that politics is not the only way through which one can bring transformation in society. They can even do it through with films.

They consider films as a medium through which they can express their social concerns and bring radical changes in the society. Actors Asif Ali and Bineesh Kodiyeri, directors Shyamaprasad and Anoop Ramesh and scriptwriter Arun Lal are some of the Mollywood star, who have come from political background. Actor Asif Ali is the son of Municipal Chairman MP Shoukat Ali. During his formative years, he was away from political activities as he was staying in hostel. So he was never inclined to politics. His parents wanted him to be an engineer or a management professional. But they came to know about his passion for acting only after the posters of his first movie hit the walls. "My only wish was to get into films, and probably after my first movie, my parents realised how passionate I was about following my dream and have been fully supportive about it," TOI quotes him as saying.

Actor Bineesh Kodiyeri

Actor Bineesh Kodiyeri

Actor Bineesh Kodiyeri, who debuted in films with Five Fingers in 2005, is the son of former Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. His father has been a major influence in his life. The actor says, "He has always encouraged and supported me to pursue a career as an actor."

Director Shyamaprasad

Director Shyamaprasad

Shyamaprasad, who is one of the ace directors in Malayalam, is the son of BJP leader O Rajagopal. The director says that he was never attracted by politics because he had witnessed his father's struggles in politics. He adds that he has always been cynical about politicians.

Anoop Ramesh

Anoop Ramesh

Anoop Ramesh, who worked as assisted director for Shyamaprasad and Shaji Kailas before start directing Crocodile Love Story independently, is the son of Trivandrum Mayor K Chandrika. Anoop says his parents were a huge support ever since he announced that he wanted to become a filmmaker.

Scriptwriter Arun Lal

Scriptwriter Arun Lal

Arun Lal, who has written script for Jayasurya's Thank You, is son of CPI leader P Ramachandran Nair. He says that his only dream was to do films and it was his father, who was instrumental in helping him realise his dream.
