61st Idea Filmfare Awards South Malayalam Winners List

The 61st Filmfare awards South was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennaion Saturday. The star studded event witnessed the union of all the four South Indian Film Industries Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada.

The event turned colourful with the celebrities who walked in the red carpet in designer wears. A R Rahman, Kamal Hassan, Mahesh Babu, Surya, Dhanush and many other prominent South film stars attended the event. Bollywood's queen actress Rekha was the chief guest of the event. Celebrities performed for the famous tunes from South Film Industry

Absence of prominent names from the Malayalam industry caught the attention.Nazriya Nazim accepted the black lady on behalf of her fiance Fahad Fazil. Rima Kallingal performed on the stage and represented Malayalam Industry. Veteran actress Jayabharathi was honoured with the Life Time Acheivement award.

Drishyam, the family thriller directed by Jeethu Joseph won the award for Best Movie in Malayalam. The movie stars Mohanlal, Meena, Sidhique and Asha Sarath in lead roles.

Shyama Prasad won the award for Best Director for his movie Artist, which is an adaption of the novel Dreams In Prussian Blue by Paritosh Uttam.

Fahad Fazil won the award for Best Actor (Male) for the second time, for his perfomance in the movie North 24 Kaatham. He won the Best Actor award last year for his performance in 22 Female Kottayam. He has also won the Best Actor award in Kerala State Film Awards, for North 24 Kaatham.

Ann Augustine won the award for Best Actor (Female) for her performance in the movie Artist. She has also won the Best Actress award in Kerala State Film Awards, for Artist.

Prithviraj won the Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie Celluloid, in which he played the Father of Malayalam Cinema, J C Daniel. He has also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Celluloid.

Murali Gopi won the award for Best Supporting Actor (Male) for his performance in the movie Left Right Left, which was also penned by himself.

Life Time Aceivement Award

Veteran actress Jayabharathi was honoured with the Life Time Acheivement Award for her contributions to South Indian Movie Industry. She shared the award along with the veteran cinematographer-director Late Balu Mahendra.
