Abhirami To Play Police Officer

Abhirami, who is making a comeback to silver screen with the upcoming movie Apothecary, is all set to play a police officer in her next film, Driver On Duty. The actress will play Sub Inspector Arundathi Varma, the incharge of a women police station. Her character is inspired from the real life character Kuttiyamma, one of the first women police officers of Kerala.

Abhirami, who is settled in US post marriage, decided to make a comeback upon the insistence of her Virumandi co-star, actor Kamalhassan during the dubbing works of his movie Vishwaroopam. She turned a dubbing artist, by lending voice to heroine Pooja Kumar in Vishwaroopam.

Abhirami To Play Police Officer

The actress will play the female lead opposite Suresh Gopi in Apothecary. She has already shared screenspace with Suresh Gopi in the movies Pathram and Megasandesham. Apothecary is a medical thriller film directed by Melvilasam fame Madhav Ramadasan. Suresh Gopi, Jayasurya and Asif Ali plays the male leads in the film. Abhirami and Meera Nandan play the female leads.

Driver On Duty is a comic movie, directed by debutant Manoj Paloden. The movie narrates the story of a Police driver Ramakrishnan, who gets appointed in a women police station. Asif Ali will play Ramakrishnan. Earlier, Ramya Krishnan was roped in for the role Arundathi Varma; but later she backed out from the project citing date issues. Janani Iyer, Lena and Rachana Narayanankutty will play the other key roles in the film.
