The nightingale of Kerala, K S Chithra hasone more award to her credit. This time she has been honoured with the Vanitharatnam Award from the Government of Kerala.
Excited singer shares her happiness on her official facebook page. She posted: Hello my dear friends
I have received an award known as Vanitharatnam Award from the Govt of Kerala. I have received many messages from all over the world. I thank the Govt of Kerala and its dept of social justice and all my well wishers for this award. Especially i am priveleged to receive this award along with some one like Prof.Hridayakumari who is like my mother and other luminaries.
This is not the first time that Chithra is getting an award. The award is one among the many laurels that has come her way but, still each award is a sign of appreciation as far as any celebrity is concerned.

I am back to chennai after the short tour of the united kingdom on the invitation of UKMA. I was very happy to see the responses for our shows in places like Newport,Leicester etc. Normally London is the place for such shows. I sincerely thank all my fans who came for the show from places like Cardiff,Newport,Bristol, Bath,Swansea,Coventry,Leicester etc.
Also a big thank you for UKMA (union of UK malayalee associations) for inviting me, Mr.JOY THOMAS the grand sponsor of 'Allied Chitrageetam' and the CEO of allied financial services ,Mr. DEVLAL SAHADEVAN of UKMA and of course to Mr.SOBHAN without whom this show would not have happened.

After the death of her only daughter Nandana, Chithra had been keeping away from the industry and musical shows for about a year after which she realised that she cannot survive without music. Later, she was seen in many musical reality shows as one of the jury member.
