Pathemari, the upcoming Mammootty starrer directed by Salim Ahamed started filming. Television host Jewel Mary will make her acting debut as the female lead opposite Mammootty in the movie. Mammootty is teaming up with the National award winner Salim Ahamed, for the second time. The duo has earlier worked in critically acclaimed Kunjananthante Kada.
Salim Ahamed's directorial debut Adaminte Makan Abu, earned highly positive reviews from the audience and critics. Salim Kumar played the lead role in the movie. Adaminte Makan Abu won four National Film Awards and four Kerala State Film Awards, including the award for Best Actor. The movie was the official entry of India for Academy Awards of 2012.
Pathemari revolves around the lives of Gulf Malayalis and the problems faced by them. The movie will illustrate the 4 stages of the life of Pallickal Narayanan played by Mammootty. Jewel Mary will play Narayanan’s wife Nalini.
Sreenivasan, Siddhique, Salim Kumar, Joy Mathew and Yavanika Gopalakrishnan will play the other crucial roles. Madhu Ambatt handles the cinematography and Resul Pookkutty handles the sound designing. The filming is progressing in at the various locations of Kerala, Hyderabad and Dubai.
