According to the latest reports, Mohanlal has been nominated for the third highest civilian award of the country, Padma Bhushan. Jagathy Sreekumar, director Sreekumaran Thampi, lyricist-director Yusufali Kechery and singer P Jayachandran are in the Padma Shri nomination list, which includes 33 nominees from various fields.
Mohanlal has won the fourth highest civilian award Padma Shri in the year 2001, for his contribution to Indian Cinema. The actor has also been awarded with a Honorary Lieutenant Colonel title by Indian Territorial Army and a Honorary Doctorate by Sree Sankaracharya University of Calicut, recently.
Jagathy Sreekumar's Padma Shri nomination is a happy news for the family, friends and fans of the actor. Jagathy, who is known as the most sought-out actor of Mollywood, is on a break from the movies, due to a major road accident.
Sreekumaran Thampi, the veteran director-lyricist of Mollywood, who got the Padma Shri nomination, is all set to make a comeback into the industry. He is best known for the lyrics of the evergreen song Akale Akale Neelakasham.
P Jayachandran, The Bhavagayakan of Mollywood, is very much active in the field with his mesmerizing voice. The singer had got nominated for Padma Shri a couple of times before; but failed to win. Yousufali Kecheri, the veteran lyricist-director, is another nomination in the list. On the whole, the expectations of Mollywood film industry are high on the upcoming Padma awards.
