Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha To Re-release
Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, one of the landmark movies of Malayalam cinema, is all set to re-release. P V Gangadharan, the producer of the movie, has announced that the film will re-release soon in digital format. In the online poll conducted by the IBN Live in the backdrop of 100 Years Of Indian Cinema celebration, Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha was listed in the third position of The 100 Greatest Indian Films Of All Time.
The movie, which is penned by veteran writer M T Vasudevan Nair, portrays the other side of the Warriors of Malabar region of Kerala. It was directed by acclaimed director Hariharan.
Mammootty, who portrayed the central character Chandu, won the National Award for Best Actor for his performance. The movie also won the National Awards for Best Screen-play, Best Art Direction and Best Costume Design. It also won 6 awards, including the Best Popular Movie in the Kerala State Film Awards of 1989.
The movie had an ensemble starcast, including Balan K Nair, Madhavi, Suresh Gopi, Captain Raju, Geetha, Sukumari, V K Sreeraman, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Rajalakshmi, Sanjay Mithra and Rasheed Ummar. Cinematography was by K Ramachandra Babu. Music score was handled by Bombay Ravi.
