62nd Britannia Filmfare Awards South: Malayalam Winners List
The 62nd Britannia Filmfare Awards South was held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai on yesterday (26th June). The grand event was extremely rich with the presence of the most prominent actors and technicians of South Indian Cinema.
Filmfare Awards South, which has been considered as one of the most prestigious film awards ceremonies of the country, witnessed the get-together of the stars from all the four South Indian film industries, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
The event, which began at 7.45 pm, was hosted by the popular star couple, singer Chinmayi Sripada and actor Rahul Raveendran. Popular actresses of South Indian Cinema, including Tamannah, Nikki Galrani, Parul Yadav, Shamna Kasim etc performed for the popular tunes from all industries.
The presence of veteran actors Mammootty, Kamal Hassan and Nagarjuna was the major attraction of the show. The stars shared a great bonding throughout the show and seemed to be having a great time together.
When it comes to the Malayalam winners, team Bangalore Days tops the list with 4 trophies. M'town actor Dulquer Salmaan bagged the Best Debutante Actor (Tamil) trophy for his performance in his Tamil debut movie Vaayai Moodi Pesavum.
Malavika Nair (Best Actress-Tamil), Uthara Unnikrishnan (Best Singer Female-Tamil), and Catherine Tresa (Best Debutante Actress-Tamil) are the other Malayalis who won the awards for their achievements in other language films.

Best Movie: Munnariyippu
Munnariyippu, the Mammootty starrer movie directed by Venu won the Filmfare Award for Best Malayalam Movie. The movie, which had Aparna Gopinath in the female lead, was penned by Unni R.
Best Actor: Mammootty
Mammootty bagged his 11th Filmfare Awards South trophy for Best Actor, for his brilliant performance in Varsham. The movie was written and directed by Ranjith Sankar.
Best Actress: Manju Warrier
Manju Warrier, who made a successful comeback into Malayalam movie industry with Roshan Andrews directed How Old Are You, bagged the Best Actress award for her performance in the movie.
Best Actor (Critics): Nivin Pauly
Nivin Pauly, the star of the season, won the Critics award for Best Actor, for his performance in Abrid Shine directed blockbuster movie 1983.
Best Director: Anjali Menon
Anjali Menon won the award for Best Director, for the blockbuster of 2014, Bangalore Days. The movie was penned by Anjali herself.
Life Time Achievement Award: IV Sasi
IV Sasi, the veteran filmmaker of Malayalam movie industry, won the Life Time Achievement Award for his contributions to the movie industry.
Best Supporting Actor (Male): Jayasurya
Jayasurya, the most versatile actor of the industry, won the black lady for his extraordinary performance in the movie Apothecary, directed by Madhav Ramadasan.
Best Supporting Actor (Female): Parvathy
Parvathy, the actress who has always astonished the audience with her charming screen presence, won the trophy for Best Supporting Actor (Female), for her performance as RJ Sarah in Bangalore Days.
Best Debutante (Female): Nikki Galrani
Nikki Galrani, the actress who has already entered the top league of Mollywood, won the Best Debutante award for her performance in Abrid Shine's 1983.
Best Singers
Haricharan Seshadri won the Best Singer (Male), for the Ethu Kari Ravilum, from the movie Bangalore Days.
Shreya Ghoshal bagged the Best Singer (Female) award, for the song Vijanathayil from How Old Are You.
Both the songs are composed by Gopi Sundar.
Best Music Director: Gopi Sundar
Gopi Sundar, the National Award winning musician bagged the trophy for Best Music Director, for his tunes in the movie Bangalore Days.
Best Lyricist: BK Hari Narayanan
BK Hari Narayanan won the award for Best Lyricist, for the beautiful lyrics of the song Olenjali Kuruvi, from the movie 1983. The song was composed by Gopi Sundar.
