#FilmiFiesta 2015: Best Malayalam Actor Of The Year
News
oi-Akhila
By Akhila Menon
Malayalam
Cinema
has
witnessed
some
spectacular
on-screen
performances,
which
equally
stole
the
hearts
of
audiences
and
critics,
in
2015.
Even
though
it
was
not
an
excellent
year
for
the
industry;
we
definitely
have
some
films
and
performances
which
are
truly
praiseworthy.
Prithviraj,
the
talented
young
actor
is
undoubtedly
the
star
of
the
year.
He
had
6
releases
this
year,
among
which
Ennu
Ninte
Moideen
went
on
to
become
the
biggest
hit
in
his
career.
Anarkali
and
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
were
super
hits;
while
Picket
43
was
an
average
grosser.
The
rest
of
the
films
were
failures.
Mammootty,
the
Big
M,
had
a
perfect
year
with
6
projects.
The
actor
earned
highly
positive
reviews
for
his
performance
in
Pathemari.
His
other
successful
movies
include
Fireman
and
Bhaskar
The
Rascal.
But
Acha
Din
and
Utopiyayile
Rajavu
severely
failed
to
impress.
It
was
a
disappointing
year
for
our
complete
actor
Mohanlal.
Among
his
5
releases,
including
one
cameo
appearance,
only
Ennum
Eppozhum
and
Loham
performed
moderately
well.
The
rest
of
the
movies
failed
miserably;
among
which
Lailaa
O
Lailaa
ended
up
as
the
biggest
flop
of
his
career.
Nivin
Pauly,
the
new
crowd-puller
of
the
industry,
had
a
brilliant
year.
Nivin
had
three
releases
this
year,
of
which
Premam
emerged
as
the
second
highest
ever
grosser
of
Malayalam
Cinema.
Oru
Vadakkan
Selfie
was
also
a
blockbuster;
while
Mili
was
an
average
grosser.
2015
is
a
mixed
year
for
Jayasurya,
with
one
blockbuster
(Amar
Akbar
Anthony),
one
super
hit
(Su
Su
Sudhi
Vathmeekam),
and
four
flops.
We
hope
that
the
actor
will
soon
get
enough
recognition
from
the
award
juries
and
film
festivals.
Dulquer
Salmaan
had
three
projects
this
year
(including
his
Tamil-Telugu
bilingual
OK
Kanmani).
His
only
Malayalam
flick
of
the
year,
100
Days
Of
Love
was
an
average
grosser.
His
next
movie
Charlie
will
be
released
on
December
24th.

Mammootty
(Pathemari)
One
of
the
most
deserving
actor
in
our
nominations

Mammootty
literally
lived
as
Pallickal
Narayanan
and
it
is
undoubtedly
one
of
the
best
performances
in
his
36-year-long
career.

Mohanlal
(Loham)
Even
though
it
was
a
bad
year
for
Mohanlal,
the
actor
managed
to
charm
the
audience
with
his
exuberance
in
Loham.
The
transitions
of
the
character
were
well-portrayed
by
Mohanlal.

Another
actor
who
surely
deserves

just
stunned
the

his
extraordinary

Nivin
Pauly
stole
the
hearts
of
millions
as
George
in

He
perfectly
portrayed
the
transitions

the
character
from
a
smart

to
a

Another
sure
entry

was
just
outstanding
as

in
Ranjith
Sankar's
Su
Su
