Malayalam Cinema has witnessed some confident debuts in 2015 so far. The list includes promising young filmmakers, actors and actresses. Premam, the recently released blockbuster movie has created a new record by featuring about 17 debutantes in the star cast.
When it comes to the debuts of each year, the number of leading ladies is more when compared to the male debuts. The Malayalam movie industry has always welcomed the actresses wholeheartedly but, is a little reluctant to accept the actors.
Popular filmmakers Balachandra Menon, Lohithadas and Lal Jose own the credits of introducing the highest number of leading ladies into Malayalam Cinema, popular actresses Shobana, Parvathy, Karthika, Lissy, Annie etc to the industry.
Lohithadas, the National Award winning writer-filmmaker has introduced some exceptionally talented leading ladies to the industry, including Manju Warrier, Meera Jasmine, Bhama etc. Popular Bollywood actress Vidya Balan was also introduced to the industry by the veteran director, but the project shelved after the first schedule.

Sai Pallavi, who is a doctor and professional dancer, made her debut as a female lead with the recently released movie Premam, directed by Alphonse Puthren. The actress has been receiving huge appreciations for her act.
Anupama Parameshwaran, who made her movie debut as one of the three leading ladies of Premam, stole the hearts with her cute teenager looks and exuberant screen presence.
Madonna Sebastian, who is a professional singer, decided to try a hand in cinema, upon the insistence of Alphonse Puthren. She completely surprised the audience with her character Celine in Premam.
Manjima Mohan, who was a popular child artist, made her lead role debut with Oru Vadakkan Selfie, directed by G Prajith, opposite Nivin Pauly. She has already bagged her second movie offer from Gautham Vasudev Menon.
Sana Althaf, who essayed a small role as Dulquer Salmaan's sister in Vikramadithyan, made her lead role debut with Mariyam Mukku opposite Fahadh Faasil. Even though the movie was a flop, Sana earned positive reviews for her performance.
