Double Barrel To Be Released On Internet

Double Barrel, the Prithviraj-Indrajith starrer, will be the first ever Malayalam movie to have a wide internet release. Shaji Nadesan, the co-producer of Double Barrel, announced the news in a the recent Asianet News Hour.

The movie will have an internet release in the foreign countries except UAE. The team is planning to have the usual theatre release in India and UAE. The decision was taken upon the grounds of recent piracy issues.

According to Shaji Nadesan, the theatre owners have offered their complete support for the internet release programme. The Double Barrel team expects that the internet release will prevent piracy to a large extent.

Double Barrel, directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, started rolling exactly one year back. Such long shooting and pre-production schedules are unfamiliar for Mollywood, which believes in finishing the films within a specified time.

It was also rumoured that the movie has been delayed due to the internal conflicts of the production team. But team Double Barrel slammed the rumours by confirming that the movie will hit the theatres for Onam.

Interestingly, the theatrical trailer which was released a few months back was only screened in some specific theatres. Audience and media are eagerly waiting for the release of Double Barrel official trailer.

The teaser, which was released on April, went viral on social networking sites; thus raising the expectations upon the project. Double Barrel is said to be a comical thriller, set in the backdrop of Goa.

Star Cast

The multi-starrer movie will have Prithviraj, Indrajith, Tamil actor Arya, Asif Ali, Sunny Wayne etc in the lead roles. Swathi Reddy, Rachana Narayanankutty and Isha Sharvani play the female leads.

Script And Direction

The movie is written and directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery, who rose to fame with his venture Amen. He was earlier planning for another flick named Anti-Christ with the same team but dropped the project due to budget issues.

Production Team

The movie is jointly produced by Prithviraj, Santhosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan, Arya and Lijo Jose Pellissery, under the banners August Cinema and Amen Movie Monastery.

Supporting Cast

The supporting cast includes the popular actors Vijay Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sajid Yahiya, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Manu, Anil Murali, Pearle Maaney etc.

One Year Long Schedule

The movie was shot in multiple schedules in a time span of more than one year. Double Barrel was shot at various locations of Fort Kochi and Goa.

Arya Replaces Fahadh Faasil

Fahadh Faasil backed out from the project just before the filming started. Later, he was replaced with Arya, who also expressed his interests in joining the production team of the film.

Much Awaited Film

The much-awaited film was initially slated to release for Christmas 2014; but was delayed multiple times due to various reasons. Double Barrel fill hit the theatres for Onam 2015.
