I've No Clue Why Mohanlal Did These Movies: Venu

Venu, the cinematographer-filmmaker recently criticized Mohanlal's movie selection skills, in the recent interview given to a popular Malayalam film magazine. Venu stated that he has no clue why Mohanlal did some particular films in his career.

He also feels that Mohanlal tends to be overly dramatic in certain films; which is absolutely heartbreaking. It could be the fault of the directors, who fails to make use of his talents to the fullest.

But Mohanlal is also equally responsible. Being one of the best actors of the country, Mohanlal should focus more on his selection of movies and directors. Actors like him has a responsibility towards the audience and industry, he continued to say.

When it comes to the looks and voice, Venu feels that Mohanlal is just an average individual. His biggest boon is his highly expressive eyes and that helps him to connect with the audience. Mohanlal is just a magic in front of the camera.

Venu handled the cinematography for some of the Mohanlal starrer classic movies; including Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal and Manichitrathazhu. The duo last joined the hands for Ranjith directed social thriller Spirit.

The cinematographer recently made a comeback into filmmaking, with the Mammootty starrer highly acclaimed movie Munnariyippu. Venu is planning to direct his next movie with Mohanlal and the scripting is in the pipeline.
