Jeethu Joseph Unhappy About Drishyam Hindi Remake!

By Akhila Menon

Jeethu Joseph, the hitmaker who introduced the 50 Crore club to Mollywood with Drishyam, is quite unhappy about the Hindi remake of the movie. He stated his disapproval in the recent interview given to Manorama online.

Initially, Jeethu Joseph was approached to direct the Hindi remake. But he rejected the offer, as he was extremely disappointed with the casting. Jeethu feels that the bad casting is the reason for the failure of Hindu remake.

The director points out that both the audience and critics felt the same way, after the release of the Drishyam in Hindi. According to Jeethu, the casting was perfect in all the remakes; except the Hindi version.

Jeethu Joseph is also disappointed with the modifications made in the basic plot. In the original and Southern remakes, the protagonist, played by Mohanlal, has two daughters. But in Hindi, it has been shown that the elder daughter is adopted.

It was rumoured that the team decided to make the elder daughter adopted, as Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran were reluctant to play the parents of a teenager. But, the team bitterly rubbished the rumours later.

Papanasam, the Tamil remake which had Kamal Haasan in the lead role; as well as the Telugu and Kannada remakes, repeated the success of the original version. But, the Hindi version was heavily criticized by the audience and critics.
