Mammootty Special: A Rare Photo Collection
Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema is completing the 35th year of his fantabulous acting career. Here we present to you a very special collection of some rare photos, hand picked from the various stages of Mammootty's life.
Interestingly, Mammootty entered the movie industry with the stage name Sajin; but later went back to his original name. The actor earned wide popularity for his ability to adapt a character and portray it to near perfection.
Earlier, Mammootty was widely criticized for his stereotyped serious roles, inability to perform comic sequences and poor dancing skills. But later, the actor broke his conventional serious image with a series of super comic roles.
Born to Ismail Panapparambil, who was a farmer and Fatima as the eldest son of the family, Muhammed Kutty Panapparambil was highly passionate about cinema since his teenage days. Being a Law Graduate, Mammootty practiced as an advocate for 2 years, in Manjeri. He decided to try his luck in films, with the support of his wife Sulfath in 1979.
In this 35th year of his journey through movies, Mammootty has doubtlessly entered the list of the finest actors of Indian cinema. The actor holds a record for winning maximum number of Best Actor trophies in National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards South. He has also won 5 Best Actor trophies and 1 Second Best Actor Trophy in Kerala State Film Awards.
The actor has always been highly active for the social causes and stated his political interests without any hesitation. Mammootty is the Chairman of Kairali TV, owned by the popular political party CPM.
The actor has been endorsing a couple of campaigns, including Clean Campus Safe Campus. Being a teetotaler, the actor has also been endorsing the anti-drug campaigns organised by the Government, since last few years.
