Senior
filmmakers
seem
to
be
having
a
tough
time
casting
Mohanlal
in
their
films.
After
Hariharan,
it
is
Shaji
N
Karun
who
is
going
through
a
hard
phase
with
his
Mohanlal
project,
which
was
titled
Gadha.
Mohanlal
backed
out
of
from
Gadha
due
to
undisclosed
reasons
and
Shaji
N
Karun
was
forced
to
drop
the
project.
The
director
himself
revealed
the
news
recently;
but
he
refused
to
reveal
why
Mohanlal
turned
down
the
movie.
Gadha
is
a
movie
based
on
a
short
story,
written
by
popular
writer
T
Padmanabhan.
The
project
was
announced
in
2012
and
it
was
reported
that
some
popular
Kathak
dancer
will
play
the
pivotal
roles
in
the
movie.
Grapevine
suggests
that,
Mohanlal
left
the
project,
as
the
team
couldn't
afford
his
remuneration.
Gadha
is
comparatively
a
big
budget
film
and
was
going
through
some
serious
financial
crisis;
but
Mohanlal
was
not
willing
to
compromise.
It
is
also
rumoured
that
the
actor
lost
the
interest
in
the
movie,
as
Shaji
N
Karun's
last
few
films
failed
to
make
a
mark.
But
Shaji
refused
to
comment
on
the
reports
and
revealed
that
he
is
to
resume
the
project
with
another
actor
soon.
Mohanlal
won
his
second
National
Award
for
Best
Actor,
for
the
movie
Vanaprastham,
which
was
directed
by
Shaji
N
Karun.
The
movie
had
also
won
the
Golden
Lotus
Award
for
the
Best
Feature
Film,
in
the
National
Film
Awards
of
1999.
