Mohanlal
is
an
actor
who
surprises
his
director
with
totally
unpredictable
performance,
says
filmmaker
B
Unnikrishnan.
The
director
opened
up
about
his
favourite
actor,
in
a
recent
interview
given
to
Nana
weekly.
B
Unnikrishnan
says
that
Mohanlal
is
totally
unaware
of
what
he
is
doing
in
front
of
the
camera.
Unlike
the
actors
who
decide
what
to
perform
in
front
of
the
camera
before
the
shot,
Mohanlal
performs
without
planning
anything.
The
actor
just
instantly
changes
into
the
character
without
any
preparations.
Interestingly,
if
the
director
asks
for
a
retake,
Mohanlal
will
not
be
able
to
repeat
the
same
act
again,
but
do
it
in
another
way.
At
the
time
of
retakes,
Mohanlal
will
immediately
defend
himself,
by
stating
that
he
has
no
clue
about
what
he
has
done
in
the
first
take.
He
usually
asks
his
directors
to
watch
his
performance
in
the
second
take
and
compare
it
with
the
first
shot.
According
to
B
Unnikrishnan,
Mohanlal
has
made
his
own
method
of
acting
and
has
no
influences
of
the
veteran
actors
like
Shivaji
Ganesan.
But
most
of
the
popular
actors,
including
Kamal
Haasan,
are
highly
influenced
by
the
acting
style
of
Shivaji.
Instead
of
adapting
the
so-called
acting
styles,
Mohanlal
has
developed
his
own
acting
and
dialogue
rendering
styles.
B
Unnikrishnan
feels
that
Mohanlal
is
one
of
the
rare
breed
of
actors,
who
have
developed
their
own
style.
