2015
was
not
a
highly
successful
year
for
the
Malayalam
movies.
The
industry
had
a
very
cold
start
and
the
first
few
months
were
completely
disappointing
with
no
major
box
office
successes.
After
March,
things
were
totally
different.
The
industry
had
the
first
blockbuster
of
the
year
with
G
Prajith
directed
Nivin
Pauly
starrer
Oru
Vadakkan
Selfie.
It
was
followed
by
a
series
of
films,
which
performed
really
well
at
the
box
office.
Premam
Premam,
the
Alphonse
Puthren
directed
Nivin
Pauly
starrer is
the
highest
grosser
of
the
year.
The
movie
collected
about
63
Crores
from
the
box
office.
Ennu
Ninte
Moideen
The
Prithviraj-Parvathy
starrer classic
love
story,
which
is
written
and
directed
by
debutante
RS
Vimal,
performed
extremely
well
at
the
box
office.
The
movie
comes
in
the
second
position
with
a
gross
collection
of
58
Crores.
Amar
Akbar
Anthony
Amar
Akbar
Anthony,
the
comical
thriller,
which
starred
Prithviraj,
Jayasurya,
and
Indrajith
in
the
title
roles,
comes
in
the
third
position.
The
Nadhirshah
directed
movie
collected
about
48
Crores
at
the
box
office.
Oru
Vadakkan
Selfie
The
Nivin
Pauly
starrer,
which
is
directed
by
G
Prajith
and
penned
by
Vineeth
Sreenivasan,
comes
in
the
fourth
place
with
a
collection
of
23
Crores
at
the
box
office.
Bhaksar
The
Rascal
The
superhit
Mammootty-Nayantara
starrer,
directed
by
senior
film-maker
Siddique,
comes
in
the
fifth
position,
with
a
gross
collection
of
20
Crores.
Pathemari
The
Salim
Ahamed
directed
Mammootty
starrer,
is
not
only
one
of
the
best
films
of
the
year;
but
also
made
it
in
to
the
top
10
grossers
list.
The
movie
collected
15.20
Crores
at
the
box
office.
Loham
Even
though
the
movie
earned
mixed
reviews
from
the
audiences
and
critics,
the
Ranjith
directed
Mohanlal
starrer
made
it
into
the
7th
position
with
a
collection
of
15
Crores
at
the
box
office.
Anarkali
Anarkali,
the
directorial
debut
of
scenarist
Sachi,
which
stars
Prithviraj
in
the
lead
role,
comes
in
the
8th
position
with
a
collection
of
14.50
Crores.
Life
Of
Josutty
Life
Of
Josutty,
the
movie
which
marked
the
second
collaboration
of
Dileep
and
Jeethu
Joseph,
comes
in
the
9th
position,
with
a
collection
of
12.80
Crores.
Ennum
Eppozhum
Ennum
Eppozhum,
the
Mohanlal-Manju
Warrier
starrer
failed
to
meet
the
expectations
of
audiences
and
critics.
But
the
Sathyan
Anthikad
movie
made
it
into
the
10th
position,
with
a
collection
of
11.50
Crores.
But
in
overall,
it
was
not
a
profitable
year
for
the
industry.
According
to
the
trade
analysts,
the
total
loss
of
the
Malayalam
movie
business
is
about
280
Crores,
in
2015.
It
is
undoubtedly
a
shocking
information
for
the
industry.
Sadly,
among
the
152
films
released,
only
about
20
movies
managed
to
taste
the
success
at
box
office;
while
rest
of
them
failed
miserably.
After
the
overall
evaluation,
we
can
say
that
2015
was
not
a
satisfying
year
for
Mollywood.
Mollywood's
journey
started
this
year
with
the
release
of
Sand
City,
the
romantic
thriller
directed
by
actor-director
Shankar.
The
industry
witnessed
approximately
1536
releases
so
far.
Adi
Kapyare
Koottamani,
directed
by
debutante
John
Varghese
is
the
last
release
of
the
year.
Prithviraj
starrer
Picket
43,
the
emotional
drama
film,
directed
by
Major
Ravi,
is
the
first
success
of
the
year.
Alphonse
Puthren
directed
romantic
comedy
Premam,
which
also
had
Nivin
in
the
lead,
remains
the
highest
grosser
of
the
year.
Premam
was
expected
to
break
the
collection
records
of
Drishyam
and
emerge
as
the
highest
ever
grosser
of
the
industry.
But
the
piracy
issues
badly
affected
the
collection
of
the
movie
and
it
ended
up
as
the
second
highest
ever
grosser
of
the
industry.
Here
we
present
the
10
highest
grossers
of
Malayalam
Cinema,
2015.
