It is always an exciting idea to make films about films. Well, the film-makers of Mollywood have made use of this idea to good effect and there are good number of movies, which used this prospect.

But, only few of them could be termed as quality works or in other words there are only few movies that stayed loyal to this particular genre. On this particular note, here we list the 5 best Malayalam films based on films and the industry.

Udayanaanu Thaaram (2005)

Lekhayude Maranam Oru Flashback (1983)

Back in the year 1983, K G George came up with this path-breaking movie, which was loosely based on a real life incident. In fact, the movie was first of its kind in Mollywood and the Malayalam audiences got to know about the movie world through this movie.

Best Actor (2010)

Mammooty played the lead role in this movie, which narrated the story of a middle-aged man who wants to make it big in films, as an actor. Directed by Martin Prakkat, the film had an entertaining track and at the same time, the film also gave due respect to the ambitions of an aspiring actor.
