Kaliyappan in Nizhalkuthu
The role of Kaliyappan in Nizhalkuthu, is one of the best in Oduvil Unnikrishnan's career. The role of a hangman who is filled with guilt was excellently portrayed by Oduvil Unnikrishnan. He went on to win the Kerala State Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film.
Krishna Kuruppu In Oru Cheru Punchiri

Oduvil Unnikrishnan was born in the year 1944, in Thrissur district in Kerala. With his experience in theatre groups like KPAC, the actor forayed into films landing in small roles.
His debut feature film was the film Darshanam(1973) directed by renowned film-maker P N Menon. He went on to do some character roles in films and acted in more than 400 films.
Directors like Sathyan Anthikkad, Hariharan and Adoor Gopalakrishnan, made proper use of the actor in Oduvil Unnikrishnan. Incidentally, it was through Sathyan Anthikkad films that the actor attained such a popular status.
Oduvil Unnikrishnan was a regular face in Sathyan Anthikkad films and this strong association continued till Rasathanthram, which was incidentally the last film of Oduvil Unnikrishnan.
The actor has also won the prestigious Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor. His performance in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Nizhalkuthu, fetched him the award.
It was on May 27, 2006, that the actor passed away after fighting a Kidney related disease.
