Well, there is some exciting news for all Kamal Haasan fans in Kerala. If reports are to be believed, Kamal Hassan's upcoming movie which will be directed by T K Rajeev Kumar, will start rolling soon.

Kamal Haasan is getting back to Malayalam films, after a long gap. Here we list 5 must watch Malayalam movies of Kamal Haasan.

Kanyakumari (1974)

K S Sethumadhavan, who brought him to Mollywood as a child artist gave him a break as a lead actor in Malayalam films through the film Kanyakumari. The film had the script written by veteran writer M T Vasudevan Nair.

Madanolsavam (1978)

Nobody would forget the song 'Sandhye..' from this film. This heart-wrenching love story directed by N Shankaran Nair had Kamal Haasan and Zarina Wahab doing the lead roles.

Eetta (1978)

The film which released in the year had an ensemble star cast comprising of actors like Madhu, Soman, Sheela, Seema etc. Kamal Haasan did the lead role in this film and he went on to win his second Filmfare award for Best Actor in Malayalam.

Daisy (1988)

Daisy directed by Prathap Pothen didn't have Kamal Haasan in the lead role. But, he did an extended cameo, but a crucial role in the film. He made an impact in the limited screen space he got.

Chanakyan (1989)

Chanakyan was a trendsetter of sorts. The film directed by T K Rajeev Kumar was a thriller that got released much ahead of its time.

The upcoming film is said to be a multi-lingual and would be made simultaneously made in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Sources also suggest that Shruti Hassan would be doing an important role in the film.

Kamal Haasan was last seen in Malayalam in the film Four Friends, in which he appeared as himself, doing a cameo appearance.

Interestingly, Kamal Haasan debuted in Malayalam films as a child artist through the film Kannum Karalum directed by K S Sethumadhavan. The film had veteran actor Satyan in the lead role.

Later he came back to Malayalam as a lead actor. He went on to act in close to 35 Malayalam then, with the bulk of the movies releasing between 1975 and 1985.

His return to Malayalam cinema is indeed a pleasant news. We all are eagerly awaiting for the project to start rolling soon.
