The year so far has witnessed the release of good number of children based Malayalam films. On this Children's day, let us take a look at some of them.

Malayalam film industry has produced some wonderful films based on the lives of children. The success that such films enjoy in Mollywood, has led the film-makers to come up with more and more films of this genre.

In fact, the popular film My Dear Kuttichathan, could be considered as one such movie, which started off this trend. It was one of those rare films of those days, which went on to gain huge popularity despite not having any huge stars in the movie.

In fact, this year so far has been a splendid one for Mollywood and its audiences as far as the number of movies, based on children, is concerned. Here, we list some of the Malayalam films, released in this year so far, which had a children based subject. Read on.

Ann Maria Kalippilaanu, which released in the month of August, had Sara Arjun in the lead role. The film dealt with the life of a girl named Ann Maria and some of the problems that she face in her school. Ann Maria Kalippilaanu, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas met with extremely positive reviews and emerged as a big box office success.

Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho

Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho

This comeback venture of Udaya cinemas had Kunchacko Boban and Master Rudraksh Sudheesh in the lead roles. The film narrated the story of a kid named Ayyappa, whose big ambition is to travel on an aeroplane.

Well, this movie has to be the best among the lot. Guppy, the film directed by debutante Johnpaul George had Master Chethan in the lead role. The film, which also had Tovino Thomas in an important role met with glorious reviews upon its release but unfortunately, couldn't make it big at the box office.

Rosshan Andrrews' most recent film, School Bus was another movie of this year, which dealt with the issues faced by children. Featuring Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya in the lead roles, the story of the film was based on a real-life incident.

Here is another children based film, which received some good reviews, early this year. The film narrated the story of two young girls, who come to a city, after bunking their classes.

Not all the movies from the above mentioned list went on to become big hits. Only Ann Maria Kalippilaanu and Kunchacko Boban's Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho managed to make an impression at the box office.

Two more films of this genre are expected to hit the theatres, later this year. Sunny Wayne starrer Gold Coins and Anoop Menon and Bhavana starrer Kuttikalund Sookshikkuka, are expected to hit the theatres, later this year.
