Campus based films have always had a huge demand in Mollywood. In fact, over the years, films based on campus have went on to become trendsetters in Mollywood.
Now, after a brief break, campus films are back to the fore. New film-makers are banking on the idea of making campus flicks with a difference, with the most recent one being Aanandam, directed by Ganesh Raj, which is all set to hit the theatres on October 21, 2016.

Aanandam is one of the most awaited movies of recent times. The film directed by Ganesh Raj marks the debut of Vineeth Sreenivasan as a producer. Featuring a host of newcomers, the film narrates the story of a group of students who sets off on a college tour.
Ore Mukham, is yet another campus movie in the pipeline. The film directed by Sajith Jagadnandan, narrates the campus life in the 1980's. The film, which was mainly shot in Kerala Varma College and its premises, would be an emotional thriller.
Oru Mexican Aparatha
Oru Mexican Aparatha, directed by Tom Emmatty is said to be a campus based flick. The film, reportedly, would be set in two different eras. Tovino Thomas, Neeraj Madhav, Gayathri suresh, Roopesh Peethambaran etc., would be seen playing the lead roles in the film. The shoot of the film is currently progressing.
Abrid Shine, who impressed one and all with his first two films, is gearing up for his third film, which is said to be a campus based flick. The film also marks the debut of Kalidas Jayaram as a lead actor in Malayalam. Poomaram is said to be a campus film, with a realistic touch.
Nivin Pauly-Sidhartha Siva Movie
If reports are to be believed, this upcoming film of Nivin Pauly, would have campus playing an important part in the film. Reportedly, the actor would be seen in the role of a student leader in this film.
If reports are to be believed, Rosshan Andrrews is planning a campus based love story, which would have Fahadh Faasil in the lead role.
Well, Aanandam is coming in with lot of specialities along with it. After Nivin Pauly's Premam, there hasn't been any film in Malayalam, which had campus playing an important part.
Premam, did went on to become a trendsetter with the film emerging as a blockbuster. We hope that Aanandam and all the other movies mentioned in the list above would make it big at the box office, bringing a fresh air to the industry.
