It has been 10 years since the film Classmates released. It was on August 25, 2016, that the film hit the theatres of Kerala, bringing waves of freshness to the Malayalam film industry.
The film directed by Lal Jose had a bunch of young actors in the lead roles. It featured Prithviraj, Jayasurya, Indrajith, Narain, Kavya Madhavan, Radhika etc. in prominent roles.
What if this film is being made now? Have you thought about it? Who would be the perfect actors to reprise the roles? Here we list our pick of actors..
Go through the slides to find out who can replace whom..
Dulquer Salmaan As Sukumaran
Dulquer Salmaan would be the perfect choice to replace Prithviraj in the role of the firebrand leader, Sukumaran. He is sure to bring in the intensity to the character and has that ability to pull off the most intense and emotional sequences with ease.
Tovino Thomas As Satishan Kanjikuzhy
Tovino Thomas could pull off the character of Satishan Kanjikkuzhy with ease, as he can mix comedy and negative elements in the right proportions. We have seen him don the character of a politician in the film ABCD and he is an able foil to Dulquer Salmaan.
Sunny Wayne As Pious
Sunny Wayne has the ability to handle comedy and more importantly, the combo of Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne would set the screens on fire. Their chemistry would definitely be a big positive.
Unni Mukundan As Murali
The role of Murali is a hard one to replace, as the character was the most loved one among the lots. We thought that Unni Mukundan would be the perfect choice to do this role as he has got that charm and innocence that the character requires.
Namitha Pramod As Thara Kurup
Well, Namitha Pramod is the perfect choice to do the role of Thara Kurup. She can bring in that attitude to the character and more importantly, she can look convincing as a classical dancer.
Miya As Raziya
Raziya is one such character that remains silent for most part of the film, but has a crucial role to play towards the end. We feel that Miya would be the perfect choice to do this lovely character.
Renji Panikker As Iyer Sir
Well, Renji Panikker should be the one and only choice when it comes to the role of Iyer Sir, played by Balachandra Menon in the original. The actor-writer would fit to a T, as the character.
Alencier Ley As Esthappanachan
This is one of the toughest characters to replace in this film. From the host of current character actors, Alencier Ley is one such actor who can do justice to the role of Esthappanachan.
Aju Varghese As Vaalu Vasu
Vaalu Vasu is the right hand of Satishan Kanjikkuzhy and has a good space in the film. Aju Varghese can do that role with ease and he is sure to bring in some good moments of laughter.
In fact, the casting of the film was perfect and it set the tone for the film. Nobody thought that Jayasurya would fit in to a character with a negative shade. But, the actor proved his versatility with the role of Satishan Kanjikuzhy.
Similarly, the role of Pious was handed over to Indrajith. For the first time, Indrajith handled a role with a comic angle and the casting turned out to be perfect. Same is the case of Narain, who was cast in the role of Murali.
Classmates was a trendsetter back then. The film went on to break many collection records and became an industry hit, breaking the records earlier set by Rajamanikyam. Classmates was also remade in to Tamil, Telugu and Marathi languages.
